Gehana Vasisht: Raj Kundra did not force anyone to shoot porn films | Hindi Movie News

For well over six months, actress Gehana Vasisht’s name has been doing the rounds in connection with a porn film racket, which first came to light in February this year. She was arrested and put behind bars for five months before being released on bail in June. Reportedly, she had a role to play in the on-going Raj Kundra-pornographic films case and is one of the nine accused in the matter. While Raj’s police custody has been extended till July 27, Gehana spoke to BT about the case and why she believes that Raj Kundra did not force anyone to shoot porn films. Excerpts

‘I spent five months in jail for an offence that I didn’t commit’

This matter started on February 4, 2021, when some people were caught shooting a porn film in Madh Island. On the same day, there were 14 officers who came to my house without a warrant. I live alone in Lokhandwala. The team searched my house and took away my phones and laptop. It was reported that I was caught on a shoot, but that’s not true. According to my charge sheet, I was asked to be at the Crime Branch in Byculla on the 6
th Feb, and post that, I was presented in court on February 7. When the police team searched my house, they didn’t find anything incriminating. They asked for passwords and asked me if I had forced any of the girls to act in my movies. Most of the team left in the night, barring three personnel – Fatima, Yogita and Shiv. When I went to the Crime Branch office on the 5th, I saw the people they had arrested on February 4. The police asked me if I had anything to do with them. I told them that one of the women was my former costume person and she used to take pictures. I was there for the whole day and was sent back home. On Feb 6, I was called in again and this time, the whole day went by. And then, at 7.30 pm, they got me to sign a FIR. They had no evidence to prove I was making porn films, but I was arrested and presented in the Killa Court on February 7. I was not even shown or made to understand the remand application and other documents; they were all in Marathi jo mujhe nahi aati. I had no clue about the allegations. If I had known this is what it was coming to, I would have taken anticipatory bail. Each time that I sat before the officers, all they wanted to know was… Meri life mein kya chal raha hai. Nothing of worth about the case was asked. They kept saying, ‘Aap Raj Kundra ka naam lo, aapko chhod denge.’ I refused to do that. They brought Raj’s employee Umesh Kamath and a guy called Tanveer. With them in custody, they again tried to pressurise me to name Raj, and I refused. I was sent to Byculla jail. Raj and I are listed on the same CR No, which means we are co-accused. Most of the sections slapped were bailable offences, hence one or two sections were brought in to make it difficult to get bail. While I was in Byculla Jail, the police called up several girls and offered them to either become the victims or they would be turned in as accused. One of the girls charged me with gang rape. I was charged under Section 376. Byculla Jail se Malvani Paanch Number mein leke gaye mujhe. I had no clue who had accused me of something so heinous. I asked the court to tell me who had alleged this. I met the girl in the court, but not during the hearing. She said, in front of the cops, that she was not raped. I told the police officers to check her Whatsapp messages. For days after shooting with me, she had been texting me about how much she liked working with me. And suddenly, I was the only person who was picked up for her alleged gang-rape. The police did what they wanted to do. The girl even had bank transactions with the talent coordinator, she had even shot for promotional videos, with NOC on camera. I was in police custody with no clue about what was going on. They had no proof and when I came back on bail, I found out that no one else from that unit had been questioned by the police. When I went back to the jail to collect my belongings, they again asked me if I wanted to name Raj. I refused. I spent five months in jail for an offence that I didn’t commit. I didn’t want someone else to go through the same experience. Ryan Thorpe, Umesh, Raj and I have nothing to do with the porn racket. The case against Raj Kundra and me has no basis.

‘Raj did not force anyone to shoot porn films’
Raj has a business running from outside India. Hotshots was his app. Armsprime was his company that had created apps for Sheryln Chopra, Poonam Pandey, me, and others. All the girls who are alleging that they were pushed into it, particularly Sherlyn and Poonam, are lying. Poonam has been doing nude videos for years. Her husband and she have worked on so many videos. Poonam’s own app today has nothing to do with Armsprime. Whatever they create has nothing to do with Raj. They all feared being embroiled in the matter and so, they named Raj. I met one of Raj’s employees when I was in jail. She told me that Sherlyn had blamed her and Raj for making a video, whose shoot this girl had not even been to. Yes, I made films with Umesh Kamath, but you can check them out online – there is nothing pornographic in them. I now want to bring out my charge sheet and also some of the other camera footage and stuff to prove my point.
