In March this year, actors Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha had announced that they were launching a production house together, Pushing Buttons Studios. The first film that they announced was titled Girls Will Be Girls and will be directed by Shuchi Talati. This weekend, the director Shuchi Talati shot a teaser in Dehradun with Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha and their producing partners Sanjay Gulati of Crawling Angel Films and Claire Chassagne of French banner Dolce Vita Film. They’re tight-lipped about the film and the teaser is to be submitted at a script lab in August and is reportedly up for a grant. The teaser was shot with fresh faces which will be revealed later.
According to the makers, the film’s script was also the only Indian script invited to the prestigious Berlinale Script Station 2021, a lab that selects 10 projects from around the world every year. That’s not all – it is also the only Indian project at the Jerusalem Script Lab this year where it will be presented formally at the Jerusalem Film Festival which is set to take place in August.
According to media reports, Girls Will Be Girls is set in a posh boarding school in a hill station in Northern India and follows the life of a 16-year-old girl and the issues she faces with her mother.
