Actor Himanshu Malhotra will be soon seen as Major Rajiv Kapoor in the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer `Shershaah`. The film is all set to release on August 12. Ahead of the film`s release, Himanshu spoke about his experience while working on the project.
”I was supposed to do a project with Kunal Kohli and casting director Jogiji took my audition for the same. But that did not happen and I got called for a different audition. I was not aware that it is for the film `Shershaah` and Sidharth Malhotra will be playing the title role,” said Malhotra.
Speaking about his prep work Malhotra says, “We have done a lot of prep work which started with physical training. I injured myself badly during that and my knee and elbow got hurt. Shooting in Kargil and Palampur was great fun. All the war scenes were shot in Kargil. Wearing the Indian Army uniform and playing a Major’s role is a different feeling altogether. The feeling I have experienced was of bravery and pride. We were all surrounded by the real army unit and that was an overwhelming experience. They were guiding us. I remember during our Kargil schedule, due to various restrictions, we were not allowed to step out and we would jam together post pack up. The mobile network was not great, so we all used to entertain ourselves with live music and that was an enthralling experience. At a point in time, we were all men on the set so it was great fun. Working with Dharma is indeed a cherishable experience.”
Speaking about his co-star Sidharth Malhotra, Himanshu says, ”I personally feel Sidharth has portrayed Vikram Batra’s role very well. He has absolutely no air about his stardom and knows his skill. I think Shershaah is going to be an important film of his career. Kiara Advani is also a very good actress and people will love to see her in this film.”
