Kiara Advani has said that she had ‘limited information’ about the Kargil War and soldiers involved in it, before she began working on Shershaah. Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the upcoming Amazon Prime Video film traces the life of Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra.
Talking to Hindustan Times in an interview, Kiara Advani said, “Being part of a biopic involves tracing and knowing in detail, lives that have been lived. The people in his life, who become an integral part of his life.” Sidharth Malhotra plays the titular role of Captain Vikram Batra in the film.
Kiara Advani plays Dimple Cheema in the film. Dimple was Vikram Batra’s fiancee, who lived her life as his widow after he died in the 1999 Kargil War. Kiara further said, “I must have a been 6 or 7-year-old during the Kargil War. My information was limited. I did not know as much as I do today, after being a part of the film.”
She also said that being a part of the film, and getting to know things about the army made her proud. “There is immense gratitude for the Indian Army and this story is something you are proud of. You want generations who come after to know about it. You want them to get inspired. The story, apart from being very overwhelming is, his passion and love, everything inspires you.”
Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani and director Vishnuvardhan visited the Kargil war memorial earlier this week to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas on Monday, July 26. The film’s trailer was also launched in Kargil, in the presence of Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat.
