Sherlyn Chopra’s anticipatory bail plea rejected in pornography case related to Raj Kundra | Hindi Movie News

Sherlyn Chopra had applied by anticipatory bail fearing arrest in the ongoing probe in the pornography racket, however her plea has been turned down. Mumbai Sessions court has rejected her anticipatory bail application in the pornography case related to businessman and actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra.

While Raj Kundra is currently in 14-day judicial custody, Sherlyn has recorded her statement with the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Property Cell. In April 2021, the actress had reportedly filed an FIR against Raj for sexual assault and he was charged under section 376 of Indian Penal Code r/w section 384, 415, 420, 504 and 506, 354 (a) (b) (d), 509, of Indian Penal Code, 67, 67 (A), of Information Technology Act 2008, sec 3 & 4 of Indecent Representation of Women Act 1986. In her complaint, the actress had revealed that they had a business meeting in early 2019 and on March 27, 2019, Sherlyn claimed that Raj showed up unannounced at her house due to a heated argument over a text. The actress had alleged that Raj started kissing her even though she resisted. Sherlyn has also reportedly claimed that she told Raj she didn’t want to get involved with a married man to which Raj responded that his relationship with his wife Shilpa Shetty was complicated.

After Raj’s arrest on July 19, the Mumbai police had raided Raj and Shilpa Shetty’s plush Juhu bungalow. Shilpa Shetty was questioned by the cops and the actress maintained that he is not involved in producing porn content. She also mentioned that erotica is different from porn, the distribution of which her husband has been accused.

Apart from the pornography case, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are also facing a monetary penalty. Markets regulator SEBI has slapped a monetary penalty on Viaan Industries Ltd, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Ripu Sudan Kundra aka Raj Kundra, for disclosure lapses and consequent violation of insider trading norms. According to a Sebi order, a total fine of Rs 3 lakh has been imposed on Shilpa and Ripu, who are the promoters of Viaan Industries.
